Register

Nebraska’s Primary Election to determine Party nominees happens May 15, 2018. You must register to vote in that Primary. And please do. Because it’s easy.

If you have never registered to vote, and have internet access — note: instructions for those who do NOT have internet access, or do not prefer online registration, follow — then visit the Nebraska Secretary of State website at www.sos.ne.gov and click on Elections, then General Voter Information, then NEReg2Vote-online, or simply click on this if it works for you: https://www.nebraska.gov/apps-sos-voter-registration/ The deadline to register online is April 27 2018.

For your reference, the telephone number for Nebraska’s Election Division is: 1-888-727-0007

If you’ve never registered to vote, and have NO internet access or do not prefer online registration, then:

  • you can mail-in your registration so long as it is postmarked no later than April 27, 2018
  • you can register in-person at the DMV and various state agencies no later than April 27, 2018.
  • you can register in-person at a county election office no later than 6 pm on May 4, 2018

Vote

Again, Nebraska’s Primary happens May 15, 2018. If you wish, you can vote early by mail or in-person. If you’ve identified with a Party when you registered to vote, you can only vote for the candidates registered to that Party. In other words, a registered Republican voter can only vote for Republican Party candidates, and a registered Democrat can only vote for Democratic Party candidates. Since I sincerely believe there’ll be a fair share of Democrats who’ll cross Party lines to vote for me, because a number of my policy positions have cross-party appeal to both conservatives and progressives — like my bid to rid Washington DC of its corrupt ways — if you are a registered Democrat and wish to cast a vote for me after you’ve got to know me, then please do change your Party affiliation to No Party Affiliation, i.e. Independent, in advance, per the deadline dates offered above. INDEPENDENTS CAN VOTE IN THE NEBRASKA PRIMARY ON MAY 15 2018.  To vote for Kirk Penner at the polling station, simply ask the election official for the REPUBLICAN BALLOT.
